In November 2002, Julia Fairrie travelled with Bianca Jagger and Magnum photographer Lise Sarfati to Calcutta, India to expose the scandal of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. They visited programmes run by Sanlaap, a developmental organisation that works towards correction of social imbalances, which present themselves as gender injustice and violence against women and children. Their primary work focused on protecting women and children from being trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and forced prostitution.
